Immunotherapy?? i'm eligible. But,what is it??

Just had a call from oncology department.
Further test on my tumor and seeded parts indicate i will be eligible for
Immunotherapy. I have to research this. First i hear about it working on SCLC.
From what i heard on the phone it could be a first sign of hope on the horizon.

 My immune system is down due to low white blood-cells, and they want it to fight cancer. just came to me.

What i get from it so far : SCLC responds well to chemotherapy, but then relapses too fast for it to last.  Switching to Immunotherapy after chemo will make is stick better/longer. Simply said, is what i get.
Please, someone jump in and say if right or wrong.

Hi Martin ... sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with sclc. I am the daughter of an 87 year old mother, who was also diagnosed with sclc in Dec., 2018 and as such, have been doing my best to find out what options are available to assist her.
I opened the PDF file that you included in your blog, and noticed that it was dated February, 2016 - a lot has happened in 3 years ... alas, to my knowledge, there is still no cure for sclc BUT there has been a breakthrough with the introduction of immunotherapy drugs.
There are some inspirational stories on the web, from people that were diagnosed with extensive stage sclc, that credit their survival to their oncology team and immunotherapy drugs. Perhaps you could educate yourself further with more current information to better understand the way in which they work to help your immune system fight the cancer cells? It’s fascinating and miraculous stuff! The total cure hasn’t been found yet, but these amazing doctors/researchers are getting close!
Ps .. my sister-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma in 2016 and was offered the chance to trial Keytruda and Opdivo, and thanks to these drugs, was declared “in remission” in 2018 ... it’s happening!

I'm 57 years old and female. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with COPD and I was beyond scared! My lung function test indicated 49% capacity.
